Unity of Diversity Faith Forum and Dinner 2017 @ UMMA Center

Manningham Interfaith Network Inc (MIN) Unity in  Diversity Faith Forum dinner was held at Doncaster Mosque  – UMMA centre – which coincided with their auspicious Holy of Holy nights “Shab e Barat” on 11 May.

The theme for the evening was the Relevance of Faith in 2017 and beyond. We listened to a range fo speakers from Abrahamic Faiths, (Christian, Jewish & Muslim), Bahai, Buddhist, Hindu, HWPL, Sikh to Zoroastrian.

About 175 people from all diverse backgrounds and Faiths including Atheists attended and enjoyed the evening. It was the start of conversations about the Relevance of Faith which MIN hope we will all take to our respective communities and continue the talks on Faith until we meet again.

The key messages all Faiths agreed on were: Good thoughts, Good Words and Good Deeds (think of the signs we do prior to listening to the Word  every time), Good Food, love each other and ourselves & Do No Harm.

The positive energy generated with people of different faiths mingling and sharing a meal had to be felt and MIN is humbled by the warmth and our common humanity. Our mission to spread harmony in society through genuine Understanding and Respect was fulfilled on the Holy of Holy Nights in the Muslim calendar and we are grateful to UMMA centre – Doncaster Mosque for the use of their facilities and superb array of food.
